Conference Dinner and Handover to Australia
At the conclusion of the WISPC 2016, a ceremony was held to handover to the First Nations of Australia the conveners of the WISPC 2018.
Professor Tom Calma represented the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander collective and accepted the stone carved by Maori elder and carver Peter Akurangi.
This stone is significant as it holds the life essence of the gathering and was blessed to keep us all safe no matter where we are in the world.
The Maori delegation attended WISPC 2018 at Boorloo, Western Australia where they presented the carved stone that took pride of place at the conference.
