Aunty Tj TikTok Project

Supporting our Youth through Positive Messaging

At the Centre of Best Practice in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Suicide Prevention (CBPATSISP), we aim to strengthen our youths’ sense of pride in their cultural identity, facilitate connection to country, share a range of cultural healing practices for self-care and provide a place of belonging for First Nation’s peoples.

The Aunty TJ TikTok project was created to provide supportive messages to our youth, to reinforce hope, resilience and support cultural, emotional and social wellbeing.

The TikToks are a social media vehicle to address the negative outcome of the Referendum, where increased instances of discrimination and racism on other social media platforms negatively impacted on our collective peoples, especially our youth.

The intent of the Aunty TJ TikToks is to provide a series of positive, warm and supportive messages that engage our youth and to aim to balance the deficit discourse by sharing positive messaging from Aunty TJ as well as from a wide range of other Elders, cultural knowledge holders and healers as well, from the voices of our recently established Aboriginal Youth Advisory Group.
